30 days of health: day 3 – balance

work-life-balanceAs I get older, 33 now, (gasp) I realize how much of my life has lacked balance. My personality is “all or nothing.” I see how that has both enabled and hindered me. That is why I am either juice fasting or ice cream fasting. As I begin to realize the lack of balance, I can adjust my life to walk this tight rope of strength and health.

BALANCE is the KEY!

I am not juice fasting at this time, because I need to aim for the balance of healthy eating and exercise to reach my goal and KEEP it. I love juice fasting, but until I can understand balance, it will never work the way I want it to. Does this make sense?

WHEATGRASS!

I cannot believe I have waited this long to try wheatgrass! It was great. I had a 1oz shot at my local juice bar.

Benefits of One Shot of Wheatgrass Juice
**One ounce contains 103 vitamins, minerals and amino acids.

**One ounce of wheatgrass juice represents as much nutritional value as approximately 2.5 pounds of fresh green vegetables.

**Wheatgrass juice is high in chlorophyll.

**It is very high in vitamins A, B-Complex, C, E and K.

**Wheatgrass juice is a natural source of laetrile (B-17).

**It contains beta-carotene, which is found in red, green and yellow pigmented fruits and vegetables. Beta-carotene acts as a scavenger against harmful molecules flowing naturally through the body or through toxins inhaled from cigarette smoke, air pollution and other damaging sources.

**Wheatgrass cleanses, purifies and feeds the body by activating the white blood cells, which boost the body’s immune system.

**Wheatgrass juice is also beneficial for people who need to lose weight or cleanse their bodies.

Spirit-led in all things

This is from a talk I gave to my homeschooling friends.  (Unedited)
May Yahweh be blessed in all we do!

I am a helpmeet and lover to my husband of 12 years. I homeschool 3 boys 12, 10, and 1 ½ . I love my Creator and Redeemer. Just like all of us I am a work in progress running the race….

When Kelly asked me to do this 4 weeks ago I accepted with the idea that this would be a very personal challenge for me. I like challenges, I like to think that I am always growing and learning new things about Myself and my relationship with God and the people in my life. I don’t share from this platform often, once or twice in my adult life, and both times were disasters by my own standard. As I thought through this topic it easily became bigger than me. I spent much time in prayer and I have felt much growth through this process. I pray that this topic tonight will allow me to provide some fruit that is sweet to you and helps you in your walk. But in the end this topic has challenged me to think about everything I do and why I do it. Organization has become a natural process in my life. It has just come along on the journey of who I am.

Romans 8:6-9

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Messiah, he is none of his.My prayer for you tonight is that you would allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in a real and honest conversation with yourself. That he would open our hearts allow us to also share openly with each other in order to establish relationships built on trust and respect. I pray that the Spirit would give us a heart that sees only love for each other and we are open to encouraging and showing that love

Hebrews 3:13

exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Our topic tonight is the “organization of our dwelling place.” Many of us have gone to plenty of websites and blogs, we have boards on Pinterest, we’ve borrowed books from the library, cut out magazine articles, lets face it, many of us have more ideas then we could implement in our lifetime, let alone a weekend.

So why are we here? Perhaps you have not done all of the above perhaps you are naturally organized, or I submit to you that perhaps there is a disconnect and the physical and spiritual may not have been introduced, or they have met from time to time but do not have a strong relationship, after-all the enemy would love nothing more then to separate what is meant to be together. The physical and spiritual are meant to be connected in such a way that one does not happen without the other. This foundation is where I want to begin tonight.

This is meant to be a discussion with ourselves and the Holy Spirit, then later, perhaps with one another. But, I want us to first allow the spirit to guide us through our own thoughts as we think through some personal questions. Perhaps we can find out some things about ourselves and each other we didn’t know. That is the process of growth I always look forward to.

First, I want us to think about the connections between how we feel toward our homes and does this effect our relationships? Whether it is our relationship with our kids, our husband or friends and family outside our home.

In general, how does your home make you feel?  Do you feel a connection between your home at any given time and your feelings or emotions?
How does your home “welcome you” after you have been gone?
Does it “hug” you and  say, “Welcome home!”  Does  it scream it’s needs at you the moment you walk in the door?
Does this effect how you respond  to others?

Romans 12:1-2

Brothers and sisters, I encourage you to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, dedicated to God and pleasing to him. This kind of worship is appropriate for you. Don’t become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants-what is good, pleasing, and perfect.

Our relationship with our home is important. Please notice I said “home,” not “house.” A house is built on physical things and material possessions, things that are “of this world.” A home is built on a completely different foundation than a house. A home is built on a spiritual foundation of faith, family, love, worship, and all those things which “make a house, a home.”

What is your relationship with your dwelling place?
Do you see it as a “house” or a “home?”
Are you proactive in this relationship? What are some things that you do to make your house a “home?”

Romans 8:6

to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

That word peace is “Shalom” in Hebrew. It is the “peace of God that surpasses understanding” in Philippians 4:7
We may have many struggles, trials, and overall rough times. “Shalom” is a place of spiritual peace that takes us past the flesh, the carnal things of this world, and plants us in the place of eternal thoughts. “Shalom” says, no matter what is happening in this world and even in my home, I have faith in my God and He has redeemed me!

Is your home a place of shalom, peace and rest that surpasses the carnal and leads your family to the eternal?
What are some carnal challenges you face in your home? How do you get past this?
Have you experienced shalom whether it be at one time or another or continually? Share this experience.

It is important to have shalom. But there is a reality here that we cannot overlook. “We are to be in this world but not of it.” The reality is, we still need to “be in this world.” Our spiritual lives must meet the physical world. There must be physical manifestation of spiritual authority. I mention spiritual authority, because many times our homes can feel burdensome, stressing, needy, and chaotic. The point is NOT to never have days like this. We are “in this world,” days like this WILL happen. The point is to establish the spiritual authority to rebuke the spirit of chaos, of anger, and of burden, and not give it authority over our home.

Have you established the spiritual authority over your home?
Do you recognize when the enemy is knocking?
Chaos, anger, stress, things that burden us… Can you relate to any of these strongholds? Share an experience.
Do you take time to pray over your home? How can this change the spiritual authority you recognize and allow into your home?

Remember, a house is filled with stuff. I am speaking of our homes as places of faith, love, relationship, and worship of our Creator and Redeemer. My home is a dwelling place. I can honestly tell you our family is ready to leave at any time.

Mark 10:17-22

As Jesus was coming out to the road, a man came running to him and knelt in front of him. He asked Jesus, “Good Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?”

Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.

You know the commandments: Never murder. Never commit adultery. Never steal. Never give false testimony. Never cheat. Honor your father and mother.”

The man replied, “Teacher, I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was a boy.”

Jesus looked at him and loved him. He told him, “You’re still missing one thing. Sell everything you have. Give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then follow me!”

When the man heard that, he looked unhappy and went away sad, because he owned a lot of property.

By the standard of western culture we may not see ourselves as “rich”. But compared to the world we have many possessions. We have food to eat. We have the ability to shower every day. We sleep in comfortable beds. We live in warm houses. We dress and clothe ourselves. And this is just the “basics.” God has promised us food clothing and shelter, everything else is just “stuff”

Galatians 5:22  -23

But the spiritual nature produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, and self-control. There are no laws against things like that.

Connecting the physical:
Discipline ** self control ** and prayer
Spending time with God. If you are too busy to be alone with him, pray and study the Scriptures, then you a far busier then God intends you to be.

Something practical:
Quiet time basket. Prayer and scripture binder.

With this foundation…
How do we manage our “stuff?”

1st Prioritize time: We can’t organize a home when we’re not in it.
We are wives and mothers first. I submit to you that just because it is a godly thing to do doesn’t mean we should be doing it.
Organize a schedule that takes you out of your home as little as possible. Multi-task and organize your errands

Prioritize by room or area
You are not cleaning your house, you are blessing your family
Each week choose one room to focus on a “deep clean” or deep blessing if there is a such thing.

Simplify
Keep it simple, stick to the basics. Baby steps.

Throw away
If you haven’t used it in the last 6 months – 1 year throw it out!

Have fun, make it a game for yourself and kids.

60 day juice feast: finishing the feast

imageSo I am finished my juice feast.  I have been eating again this last week.  I eased my way back into food.  Now I am in a battle of balance and over-indulgence.  Which is exactly what I did not want to happen.  I am taking a pro-active approach.  I am going to continue juicing many times through the day.  I am juicing about 3 – 16oz glasses now.  I am working out an eating routine and schedule that will help me not over-eat and over-indulge.  I want to eat a plant-based, whole food diet.  I want to reduce my intake of all meats and dairy.  I am looking into more recipes and books to help keep me motivated for change.  I am excited to continue a healthy lifestyle.  I am not exercising as much as I like and this must change!  I want to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.  I want to work on strength training every other day 3-4 days a week.  Fitting this into my schedule and making it a priority is the only way I will accomplish my goals.  Happy juicing!

60 day juice feast: “Saggy Drawers”

Saggy drawers and smaller tummy. I am posting this only to motivate others who are merely thinking about juicing to give it a go. I came out to the living room the other day and Scott commented on how trim I was getting that my pants weren’t fitting any more and my tummy looked trim. He took a picture so that I would see the accomplishment and be encouraged to continue. It isn’t too “showy” and so I thought I would share it only to encourage others and win some juicers!

a christmas message

We all know that pine trees are cut down each and every year for Christmas. Many of us also know that when Yeshua returns, Christmas will cease to be. Interestingly enough, scripture actually declares how the pine trees will feel at our Lord’s return. Do you wish to know…we find out in another “119 Thoughts.”

“Mixing something good in with something bad doesn’t make it all good it makes it all bad. Just try mixing cookie dough and dog poop!”

precutDay 45/60! 15 days to go!
I was asked last week, “What heath benefits have you noticed so far?”
I wish I would have thought about writing this down sooner.

  • Spiritual revelation and boldness!
  • Lots of energy, very focused, skin is more radiant.
  • I didn’t have any health “problems” before, but we are not diagnosed with a problem until it is chronic and advanced. You have seen it, I am sure, when someone is perfectly healthy and then… Well then they aren’t. My plan is to take action toward healing my body BEFORE a doctor tells me I am sick.
  • I haven’t had any flus or colds, tis the season.
  • I had a skin irritation of some sort on my left foot, that is gone.
  • I weighed 140 when I started, I am 124 and have lost 10 inches as of this morning. My BMI is officially “normal.”
  • I am overcoming emotional addictions to food, by simply fasting for 60 days and riding out everyday life without being able to HAVE food.
  • I am sure my body could tell you more that I don’t even know about!

396308_281740988553421_1722524778_nAnother excellent teaching from 119 Ministries.  Stepping away from the traditions and teachings of men to worship Yahweh in spirit and in TRUTH.  Let’s not have a “Cain mentality.”  We must worship Him the way He wants to be worshiped.  Not the way we decide, but the way He has asked.

Just because we can change what pagan holidays mean to us. Doesn’t mean that we can change what they all mean to God.

Mark 7:6 And He (Yeshua) answering, said to them, “Well did Yeshayahu prophesy concerning you hypocrites, as it has been written, ‘This people respect Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. Mar 7:7 And in vain do they worship Me, teaching as teachings the commands of men. (See Isa. 29:13, 2 Ki. 17:19, and Mt. 15:3-9)
Mark 7:8 “Forsaking the command of Elohim, you hold fast the tradition of men.”

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

If you are really interested in your relationship with God, if you are really interested in how He wants to be loved and does not want to be loved, then this teaching is for you.  We take a hard look at a subject that most are too scared to consider critically, Christmas and Easter.   This teaching is for those that are bold in the faith, and really want a relationship with their Creator that is founded on love, in the way He defines love.  Prepare to challenge your faith, and Test Everything.
