My dear friend and sister in Messiah sent this to my email over the week-end. I was over-whelmed with what she had found concerning the storm that hit the mid-Atlantic and Midwest states this last Friday.

From Alicia:
Last night I saw on the news that a powerful storm had impacted much of the Midwest and mid-Atlantic.
“Intense Storms Called a “Derecho” Slam 700 miles of the US”

The name for such a storm is called a DERECHO.
The word, “derech” struck me as I read the news article. And I was reminded of something that was shared during the Torah study yesterday morning. The Israelites wanted to take a short cut through the King of Edom’s territory.

Numbers 20:17:

Please let us pass through your land. We will not go through fields or vineyards, and we won’t drink any water from the wells. We will go along the King’s Highway, not turning aside either to the right or to the left until we have left your territory.

Mike Clayton with Joined to HaShem spoke out at David’s Tent in Eaton on Erev Shabbat. He talked about the journey that we are on and that we don’t want to get on any false paths or take any detours. He said, “Rabbit trails aren’t kosher!” Sounds funny, but it’s true.

Hosea 14:10(9)

Let the wise understand these things, and let the discerning know them.  For the ways of YHVH are straight and the righteous walk in them, but in them sinners stumble.

2 Samuel 22:33

Elohim is my strength and protection; He makes my way go straight.

Matthew 7:13

Go in through the narrow gate; for the gate that leads to destruction is wide and the road broad, and many travel it; but it is a narrow gate and a hard road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

regarding Matthew 7:13: Some translations say that it is a STRAIGHT and narrow path that leads to life!

Proverbs 14:12 There can be a way which seems right to a person, but at its end are the ways of death.
