I wanted to spend my quiet time this morning on a word study of “the way.”  I wanted to look for connections to the times this phrase is used in Scripture. Every time I do this I get brought to the very first place and it is not long before I am taken on many “rabbit trails” which is a beautiful way to spend some quiet time. Lost in the Word of my Father!

The very first place is found in Genesis 3:24
He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.

derek
deh’-rek
From *H1869; a road (as trodden); figuratively a course of life or mode of action, often adverbially: – along, away, because of, + by, conversation, custom, [east-] ward, journey, manner, passenger, through, toward, [high-] [path-] way [-side], whither [-soever].

dârak
daw-rak’
A primitive root; to tread; by implication to walk; also to string a bow (by treading on it in bending): – archer, bend, come, draw, go (over), guide, lead (forth), thresh, tread (down), walk.

John 14:6 יהושע (Yeshua) said to him, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

The connection is made that Yeshua is the Way to the tree of Life.

Something I found interesting is that the Hebrew for “way” has the Hebrew letters Kaf, Resh, and Dalet.  In its simplest significance these letters mean “palm of hand”, “head”, and “door.”

I mention this only because Yeshua also says he is the door.
John 10:9 “I am the door. Whoever enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and shall go out and find pasture.
John 10:1 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter through the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up by another way, that one is a thief and a robber.

When I saw “palm of hand” it reminded me of a picture that recently showed up on Facebook…

Isaiah 35:8 And there shall be a highway, and a way, and it shall be called “The Way of Set-apartness.” The unclean does not pass over it, but it is for those who walk the way, and no fools wander on it.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Messiah יהושע unto good works, which Elohim prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
“which ELOHIM prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” YES! Yahweh established “the Way” from the beginning! The Way is His law (better translated “instructions”) His commands!

John tells us Yeshua is the WORD. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim. If Yeshua is the Word, He is the Instructions! We follow the Way, the Instructions made perfect through the life and death of Yeshua Messiah so that we would have a perfect Shepherd to show us the Way!
That is a LOT of exclamation points, but it is just so exciting!

When was the Way of Messiah established? 2Timothy 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a set-apart calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and favour which was given to us in Messiah יהושע before times of old.

Titus 2:11 For the saving Gift of Elohim has appeared to all men, instructing us to renounce wickedness and worldly lusts, and to live sensibly, righteously, and reverently in the present age, looking for the blessed expectation and esteemed appearance of the great Elohim and our Saviour יהושע Messiah, who gave Himself for us, to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people, His own possession, ardent for good works.

My children are awake and ready to start the day.  I leave with this…
Psa 95:1 Come, let us sing to יהוה! Let us raise a shout to the Rock of our deliverance.
Let us come before His face with thanksgiving; Let us raise a shout to Him in song.
For יהוה is a great Ěl, And a great Sovereign above all mighty ones.
In whose hand are the depths of the earth; The mountain peaks are His also.
His is the sea, for He made it; And His hands formed the dry land.
Come, let us bow down and bend low, Let us kneel before יהוה our Maker.
For He is our Elohim, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand.
